NHL Offseason News and Rumors August 8

 Thanks everyone for putting up with my not posting on a regular basis, from now until the end of August I will be posting every other day and have some more consistent posting starting in September



Offseason News and rumors



Signings


#1) Calgary

The Flames have signed two RFA’s to new deals. They signed Luke Philip to a 1 year deal with a AAV of $.750 Thousand and should continue to grow in the minors after having 17 points in 30 games with Stockton of the AHL. The Flames also signed Matthew Phillips to a 1 year deal with a AAV of $.750 Thousand and he should maybe get a few NHL games in this year after having 21 points in 30 games with Stockton if the AHL and playing his first NHL game the past season nor recording a point. 


#2) Chicago

Brandon Hagel who was a RFA has signed a new deal getting a 3 year deal with a AAV of $1.50 Million and should be a reliable middle six forward and continue to grow after having 24 points in 52 NHL games with Chicago this past season.


#3) Los Angeles 

Los Angeles has reached a deal with Defensemen Kale Clague on a 1 year deal with a AAV of $.716 Thousand and should challenge for a 3rd pairing spot this year after having 6 assists in 18 NHL games with LA last year.


#4) Edmonton 

The Oilers worked out a contract extension with Darnell Nurse on a 8 year deal with a AAV of $9.25 and even if this contract will be expensive later down the line it is a really good deal for now and Nurse should continue playing top pairing minutes after having 36 points in 56 regular season games and a assist in 4 playoff games. The Oilers also signed Brendan Perlini and Stuart Skinner to deals with a AAV of $.750 Thousand, Perlini signed for one and should be a depth forward coming back to North America, and Skinner got 2 years and  should be the AHL starter and called up if their is a injury


#5) Montreal 

Montreal has avoided arbitration and signed Michael McNiven to a 1 year deal with a AAV of $.750 Thousand, and McNiven will probably be the 4th stringer for Montreal and continue to play in the AHL after he had a 2.59 GAA and a .859 SV% in 13 games with Laval last year.


#6) New York I

The Islanders avoided arbitration with their top pairing D-Men Adam Pelech. Pelech signed a new 8 year deal with NYI for a AAV of $5.75 and should continue to be a shutdown Defensemen with Ryan Pulock on the top line after he had 14 points in 56 regular season games and 5 points in 19 playoff games. 

 

#7) Colorado

Colorado has signed their 1sr round pick Oskar Olausson  to a 3 year entry level contract. The Swedish winger should continue to grow in the juniors this year.


#8) New York R 

The Rangers have signed forward Ty Ronning to a 1 year deal with a AAV of $.750 Thousand. Ronning should continue to develop in the minors after having 18 points in 18 games with Hartford of the AHL.
