NHL rumors
TSN trading rumors
1 . Toronto looking to bolster they’re forward group.
Apparently management would like the Maple Leafs to acquire some forward depth for their cup run. Their have been probably at least five forwards I have heard being linked to Toronto but the most frequent name that has come up is Mikeal Granlund. Granlund is on a expiring contract with a cap hit 3.75 Million dollars for the rest of the year. He has 19 points this year (4G-5A-9P) and can play middle six minutes. He could slot in on one of the top two lines. Something everyone should keep on their radar.
2 . Alex Goligoski on the trading block.
The Coyotes could be looking to trade top 4 d-men vetran Goligoski. The Coyotes are in the thick of a playoff race in the west and could use ether draft capital or a scoring forward and Goligoski could bring in that. Goligoski’s cap hit is 5.48 Million dollars and currently has a assist this year but can bring top four minutes to any team trying to shore up their defense.
3 . Tony Deangelo to the minors.
Tony Deangelo has been banned from the New York Rangers organization over a month now and looks like is trying to get playing time. Deangelo would welcome the idea of being loaned to a AHL team while he still waits to see if he can be traded. He has been skating for a while and the Rangers could loan him to any other AHL franchise as the Rangers said he would not play in Hartford.
Elliott Friedman’s trading rumors
1 . Columbus looking at center option.
The Blue Jackets could be in the market for a center. They have a lot of inexperienced centres that need time to develop and could look for a rental top 2 line center. The Blue jackets started the season with Pierre Luc-Dubois as their top center but traded him for Patrick Laine, and have since been using Jack Roslovic ( also acquired in the Laine trade) as their top center and could use another one.
2 . Possible Jonas Johansson trade.
He also reports some teams have called the Sabres to ask the availability of goalie Jonas Johansson. Johansson is the third stringer for Buffalo and is a UFA at the end of the year makeing some contenders calling on him as a third goalie in most cases or if there is injury maybe a backup. He has played in two games this year and started once.
3 . No Eichel trade before deadline.
Friedman also thinks it is not likely that Jack Eichel would be dealt before the trade deadline, and thinks it makes more sense to deal him in the offseason because NO.1 the Sabres would have to come to grips with losing Eichel the 2nd overall pick behind Connor McDavid in the 2016 draft and NO.2 almost no teams can pull of a Eichel trade in the Covid cap problem world. This makes a lot of sense but if Buffalo keeps losing the Eichel rumors will keep on swirling.
